eQuay 1st December 2017

Weekend Weather - click the link opposite for a detailed forecast.
After a beautiful crisp and clear, albeit cold week, there is some cloudier weather in store for tomorrow.  On Saturday morning it is forecast to be overcast with maybe the odd spot of rain.  It should clear during the day.  Sunday should be brighter with some clear sunny intervals.  It's forecast to be a bit less cold than of late.  Winds on the weekend will be F1 N on Saturday increasing F2-3 NW on Sunday.

Don't Drink and Drown
Monday is the start of the Royal Life Saving Society’s Don’t Drink and Drown campaign. The campaign will raise awareness of the dangers of being near water after a night out and when under the influence of alcohol. #DontDrinkandDrown.  I've attended a couple of meetings recently where this campaign has been highlighted.  I do appreciate that it is a sensitive issue but during 2012-16 there were 8 drownings in Cardiff where drink or drugs were a significant factor.  All were males.  There were no statistics for the near misses.  I'll be highlighting this again as we approach the party season.  Please take care around water if you've been out celebrating.

Barrage Footpath Closures
From Monday 27th Nov through to Friday 8th December the Bay Edge Walkway between the skate park and the Dr Who exhibition is closed for improvements.  There will be no access at all to Cardiff across the Barrage during this period

Carols on the Quay - Help Please
The Resident's Association haven't yet set the date for the Carols on the Quay event at the Christmas tree at Plas Taliesin Square.  We're all ready with the mulled wine but we need your help.  The Secretary of the Association is away and we need the details of the band that was arranged last year.  If you know who they were or have access to another Brass Band please let Gwynne at the Resident's Association or myself know.  Many thanks.

Water Meter Maintenance
On Thursday 7th December Dwr Cymru-Welsh Water will be replacing our water meter between 1200 -1800hrs.  There will be a short interruption to the supply during this period so please be prepared and have a bottle of water available for your cup of tea!

Notices to Mariners
No 19 of 2017 – Cardiff Barrage Lock 3 Closure – Preventative Maintenance

Mariners are advised that Cardiff Bay Barrage Lock 3 will be closed for preventative maintenance from Monday 27 November 2017 until mid January 2018.

Locks 1 and 2 are unaffected by the work, and will remain in normal operation throughout. However, mariners should be aware that tidal conditions can restrict Lock 1, the outer sill of which is at +2.3m Chart Datum (-4m Above Ordnance Datum).

When tidal restrictions coincide with operationally busy periods, delays may be experienced with the locking procedure. Mariners are requested to take note of these delays when passage planning.

For full details and updated Notices to Mariners, please see the boards in the Marina Office or check the following links.

If you have any queries please contact the Marina Office which is manned 24/7.

Have a great weekend.

Best wishes
