Important Safety Information - Ballyholme Dive Team  

Ballyholme Dive Team  are hosting an underwater marathon at Ballyholme Yacht Club on Saturday 17th June 2017. Local and visiting divers will be swimming an underwater course laid out between the slip ways at the Yacht Club. The event will run from 0700 to 1700 with associated shore based activities.

Sponsorship has been obtained from a number of Dive companies, commercial companies and members of the public, as well as stalls and raffles on the day. Money raised will be going to the RNLI, NI Childrens Cancer Fund and Air Ambulance NI.

The outer triangle of the course is marked by red buoys on each corner with yellow floats between attached to the ground line. International Code Flag “A” will be displayed in several locations adjacent to the grid on the shore.

A safety boat will be stationed at the outer marker and VHF channel 37 / 77 will be used by the boat and diver supervisor ashore.

Vessels are requested to keep clear of the area during this time or contact the Shore team on VHF Ch 37/ 77.

 

Fly your Flags – Saturday 24th June

To celebrate Armed Forces Day  why not fly your flags on Saturday 24th June. Quay Marinas – Bangor Marina are offering a bottle of champagne and a £20 chandlery voucher to the best dressed boat.

Armed Forces Weekend - Saturday 24th June & Sunday 25th June 2017

This year Bangor is proud to welcome the celebration for Armed Forces Day to the town. The event will be linked with the Sea Bangor Festival, a celebration of family fun, music and entertainment.
The event will take over the town centre and at the Marina, and be a huge celebration of the work of the Armed Forces and their families.

Car Park Arrangements - Saturday 24th June & Sunday 25th June 2017.

To assist with the Armed Forces Weekend, the Pay and Walk section of the Marina car park will be used to facilitate a display of military vehicles - section outlined in red.  The Council have arranged for additional marina parking to be made available at the at Lukes Point car park. A security guard will be posted at Lukes Point car park from 0900 hrs to 1800 hrs on both days and a free shuttle bus will run every 20 minutes to the Marina. The Marina car park barrier intercom will be switched off during the weekend - access will be by fob/card only

Bangor Maritime Festival – Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th June 2017

 

Berthing Restrictions – Eisenhower Pier

 

Tall Ships La Malouine and Lady Avenel are scheduled to berth alongside the Eisenhower Pier (North Pier) from Friday 23rd June to Monday 26th June 2017 

 

Masters of all vessels are requested not to berth on the Eisenhower Pier (North Pier) from Friday 23rd June to Monday 26th June 2017 

 

Access Restrictions – Eisenhower Pier

 

To facilitate the Bangor Maritime Festival, vehicular access to the Eisenhower Pier will be restricted on Saturday 24th June and Sunday 25th June 2017

 

Access Restrictions – Eisenhower Pier Slipway

 

To facilitate the Bangor Maritime Festival, the Eisenhower Pier Slipway will be closed on Saturday 24th June and Sunday 25th June 2017

Harbour Closures

Tall Ships Maneuvering

 

To facilitate the safe departure and arrival of the Tall Ships La Malouine and Lady Avenel the Harbour will be closed to vessel traffic.  Please listen on VHF channel 11 and observe the red traffic signal STOP lights at the end of the Central Pier.

Rowing Event & RNLI Demonstration

 

To facilitate the safe transit of vessels engaged in the rowing event and RNLI Demonstration the Harbour will be closed to vessel traffic during the following times

 

Saturday 24th June 2017    1300 hrs to 1500 hrs   1515 hrs to 1530 hrs . The Harbour will be open between the rowing race heats.  Please listen on VHF 11.

 

Sunday 25th June 2017       1530 hrs – 1600 hrs  - RNLI Demonstration

Jet Lev Demonstration 

 

To facilitate a Jet – Lev demonstration the Harbour will be closed to vessel traffic during the looking times:

 

Saturday 24th June 2017  1115 hrs, 1200 hrs, 1300 hrs, 1600 hrs, 1730 hrs, 1800 hrs

 

Sunday 25th June 2017  1200 hrs, 1300 hrs, 1400 hrs , 1455 hrs, 1600 hrs, 1730 hrs, 1800 hrs.

 

The Jet – Lev demonstration will last approximately 5 minutes.

Aerobatic Display

 

To facilitate a safe aerobatic display and to comply with Civil Aviation Authority requirements the harbour will be closed to all vessel traffic during the following times:

 

Saturday 24th June 2017 - 1500 hrs

 

Sunday 25th June 2017 -  1500 hrs

 

The harbour and marina will remain closed until the aerobatic display has concluded.  All vessels are requested not to move during the display.

 

All Masters

Please observe the three red stop lights on the Eisenhower Pier and Central Pier.  Closure information will be broadcast on VHF channel  11.

RUYC Cruising Section - MOB Competition - 24th June 2017

All boat owners are invited to take part in Royal Ulster Yacht Club 'Man Over Board' competition to be held on 24th June.

All registrants will receive full details of the competition in due course. Registrants who have participated in this event will receive an event certificate after the event in Royal Ulster Yacht Club. Please note that you must register, participate and attend at RUYC in order to receive the certificate.
